This study showed that drinking water can help you lose weight and keep it off for an extended period of time. Dieters have always been encouraged to drink plenty of water to aid their weight loss but this is the first comprehensive study that conclusively proved the link between water intake and weight loss. The study took place in Boston, MA and consisted of 48 obese men and women between the ages of 55 and 75. All 48 participants were placed on a low calorie diet but half of the group drank 16 ounces of water before consuming each meal. Those who drank the water lost an average of 15.5 pounds over three months. Those who didn’t drink water only lost an average of 11 pounds. That’s a 4.5 pound difference just from drinking water.
Drinking water helps you lose more weight because it works as a natural detox while also filling you up. Water naturally rids your body of all of its toxins and you’ll be less likely to overeat because you’ve already full of water. Additionally, water can help replace high calorie drinks like sodas, juices and alcoholic beverages. The lead researcher in the study, Dr. Brenda Davy, recommends bringing a reusable water bottle with you everywhere. Using a reusable water bottle will enable you to drink water all day long and it doesn’t create plastic waste. Just ensure you’re using a BPA-free bottle to avoid the toxic chemicals often used in plastics.
The easiest way to ensure that you’re drinking the highest quality water to help you lose weight is to invest in a whole-house water system. This way you can rest assured that your water is safe, clean and tastes great. In no time, you’ll be in the habit of drinking lots of clean, delicious water to help you lose weight and keep it off!
